A Senior Urban Designer job is available with our client's Central London practice. This part-time position (preferably Tuesday to Thursday) offers the chance to join an award-winning team working on a range of developer-led residential and mixed-use projects. You'll be contributing at a senior level within a collaborative studio environment, helping to shape high-quality, design-focused schemes across various project stages.
Founded over 40 years ago and currently employing over 60 staff, my client has found great commercial success in large-scale residential and retirement projects. They currently employ an award-winning team of urban designers, architects, technologists, graphic designers, and sustainability consultants, and their awards include the "Housing Design Award" and "Design Quality Award".

Contribute to the design and delivery of residential and mixed-use urban design projects at various stages

Prepare high-quality Design and Access Statements and Design Code documents

Carry out site and contextual analysis with a strong analytical approach

Produce clear and engaging layout designs and visual presentations

Communicate design ideas effectively through hand-drawing and sketching

Collaborate closely with colleagues, consultants, and clients

Work independently when needed, while supporting senior team members

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Deliver project work using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and/or SketchUp

Maintain a high level of detail while keeping the wider project objectives in view.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in a UK-based architectural or urban design practice, focusing on residential/mixed-use projects.

Recognized qualification in Urban Design.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to grasp the broader scope.

Excellent analytical skills.

Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with experience in preparing DAS and Design Code documents.

Proficient in layout and hand-drawing skills.

Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.

Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and/or Sketchup.

Demonstrated interest in career progression and mentoring junior team members.

£38,000- £43,000 Pro rata
